Freelance Ad/Web Designer

Luminary Publishing, publisher of Chronogram Magazine, is looking for a freelance Web designer/Ad designer to work in house on a project basis with possibility of permanent part-time status. The candidate would be able to construct landing pages, home pages, interactive graphics, web banners, print design, e-blasts and e-newletters in a Mac environment. This person must be detail oriented - some data entry necessary. Flexibility and availability to work in our Kingston office in a Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm window a must.

Hourly pay rate based on experience. Great start for a recent graduate.

Fast-growing Chronogram magazine /
Luminary Publishing seeks experienced media sales person for print,
on-line, and custom publications. Consider these characteristics before
applying.

  • Successful sales and management experience (maybe say 2 or 3 + years)
  • Prospect and develop key senior level company relationships in order to effectively build and maintain ad revenue vs. budget.
  • Establish
    professional relationships
    and a robust account pipeline by
    prioritizing and conducting a high volume of weekly account opens and
    sales calls to realize maximum revenue.
  • Strategically approach
    prospects and determine needs
    , marketing initiatives/ objectives,
    business model, budget cycle and key decision-makers.
  • Develop
    "most effective" sales proposals
    and ad sales solutions through
    experience and internal brainstorming with a thorough understanding of
    appropriate & available inventory to deliver on program.
  • Conduct
    high-level client sales meetings
    and presentations designed to
    aggressively and professionally move the sales process towards
    agreement in a timely manner.
  • Negotiate final agreement points in conjunction with internal staff and prospective client.
  • Maintain
    an ongoing communication
    to assure execution of contract deliverables
    and maximum program optimization with client to maximize advertising
    results and a high renewal rate.
  • Complete regular call reports, sales pipelines and revenue forecasts.

Luminary Publishing was born in the summer of 1993, with the aim of nourishing and supporting the creative and cultural life.
One
of the company's projects is the free, monthly Chronogram - "A
Mid-Hudson Magazine of Events and Ideas." The magazine is distributed
in counties abutting the mighty Hudson River, including Ulster,
Dutchess, Greene, Columbia, Orange and Putnam, Rockland, and
Westchester. Luminary Publishing, Inc.'s mission is to disseminate
material that nourishes and support the creative life of our region and
in the world, and to demonstrate a paradigm of that creativity in

Web Production/Editorial Intern

Chronogram offers opportunities for its interns to assist in the creation, formatting, and development of rich media (interactive audio and video) and written content for our website, www.chronogram.com. We are looking for self-motivated people with strong audio and video editing, research, fact-checking, and writing skills; prior journalistic experience is helpful but not required. Familiarity with web design, layout, and the Hudson Valley area are also helpful but not required. For our spring and fall semester internships, we require at least 20 hours a week. All internships are voluntary and unsalaried. College credit available.

Production Design Intern

Chronogram’s design interns assist in the creation, formatting, design, and layout of the advertising content of our magazines, as well as company promotional pieces and web-based banner ads. We are looking for creative, self-motivated people with strong design skills. Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite (primarily InDesign and Photoshop) is required. Familiarity with Chronogram and the Hudson Valley area are helpful but not required. For our spring and fall semester internships, we require at least 10 hours a week. All internships are voluntary and unsalaried. College credit available.
